Bridal Preparation

I am back into blogging after many years of absence. One wedding deserve a repost is the following, sit back, relax and enjoy the read.

Sydney has experienced the wettest September since 1986 with 10 straight days of showers. Come Sunday the 27th of September 2015, the weather forecast predicted showers will stop by 11am that day in time for Matt and Olympia’s wedding and what a wedding it was. Here is my experience for the day.

I started off at the Novotel Brighton le Sands where Olympia was getting ready, Suzanne (Olympia’s mum) made sure old classical Greek songs was playing in the background which help set a relaxed atmosphere. Champagne all around with plenty of nibblies for everyone, I felt right at home with my camera at hand, a smorgasbord of opportunities unfolding in front of my lens.

Olympia’s support team were bridesmaids Jessica and Laura, they were perfect for Olympia on the day helping her into her well fitted gown.

We heard a knock on the door and in come the two gorgeous flower girls Sofia and Bella (sisters). There is a third flower girl, a 2 yrs. old Rachel who was at the church with the groom.[/vc_column_text][vc_masonry_media_grid style=”lazy” items_per_page=”5″ element_width=”12″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1512448675756-91f5670006298bbf258430fa4ecfbd20-10″ include=”169,171,172,170,168,179,178,177,176,175,174,173″][vc_empty_space 0=””][vc_column_text 0=””]

Ceremony

Arriving at the Saint Stylianos Greek Orthodox Church in Gymea, Matt our groom lived up to his reputation by arriving late but still ahead of his bride, I quickly took some shots of him and his male support team lead by Hector, Tommy, David, Niko and Rimon, they were a fun bunch and easy to work with, I connected with them right from the start.

Olympia our beautiful bride arrived in style in a convertible AMG Merc with a radiant smile always that never leaves her face, She gets helped out of the car by her dad Michael. As she was standing at the door of the church, she receives a note from the groom saying ‘I can’t wait to kiss you! xxx’ Olympia had to hold back happy tears not to ruin her make-up, Matt gets the thumbs up.

Walking down the aisle in dad’s arm, with emotions running high everywhere I looked, from Matthew our groom watching his wife to be getting closer and closer to him, his eyes were teary but being the man he is it was all under control, I couldn’t say the same for dad, he was emotional.

One hour has gone past and the ceremony was over, we took few shots at the alter before heading out to be greeted by a swarm of rice and flower petals belting into the newlyweds.

It was a good time to get that group photo of all who attended. The video team from Golden Touch were right there to capture the cheering and the raw emotion as the couple kissed and the crowd erupted.[/vc_column_text][vc_masonry_media_grid style=”lazy” items_per_page=”5″ element_width=”12″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1512448675814-277af4f04f6ab2d39f8116483082e50b-6″ include=”189,190,188,187,185,184,186″][vc_empty_space 0=””][vc_column_text 0=””]

Location Photos

For the formal photos, we all headed to the Rocks area, a favourite part of Sydney to capture the historic facade of old building some as old as the first settlers. Ghost tours are run around the areas we went to for photographs, they claim that these places are haunted by spirits but I didn’t tell anyone … 🙂

Moving on, we arrived at Campbell’s Cove, two famous icons, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House, the perfect backdrop for this group photo. With the light changing, it was a great opportunity to get those close romantic shots.

Time to move on to the next stop, Olympia requested that she would love shots taken with the Bird Cages in Angel Place, this is set in a little hideaway alley that I discovered only a couple of years ago, I am not sure how many people know about it. We arrived there just the three of us as the sun started to set, it was again the perfect lighting condition for me to get what I wanted, it happened that it was deserted from crowd which helped focus on the couple. This is the first wedding I shoot in this place and I knew straight away I got something special as you can see here.[/vc_column_text][vc_masonry_media_grid style=”lazy” items_per_page=”5″ element_width=”12″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1512448675873-d6930d4f7482dc00e0ad72759422a644-2″ include=”203,202,201,200,198,197,196,195,194,193,192,191″][vc_column_text 0=””]

Reception

With the formal wedding photography over, now it is time to head to the reception, waiting for us was the stretch limo ready to take us to the wedding venue at Dockside Group Cockle Bay in Sydney’s Darling Harbour. Arriving right on time.

Time to get seated and what better MC for the job than Robert Galati, I have had the pleasure of working with him a number of times; he is always professional and well-liked by everyone.

After the bridal waltz, The Sincopa Trio Band went into full throttle with a fantastic blend of sounds got everyone on the dance floor. The night went on with lots of fun and dance till it was time to say bye to the beautiful couple. I personally had a wonderful time shooting this wedding and meeting all these fantastic friends and relatives, I know I walked away with great memories still embedded in my SD card, and couldn’t wait to start processing and reliving this beautiful day.
